Voyages and Mirages:
The non profit organization Viaggi e Miraggi "Voyages and Mirages" was born in November 2000 from the merger of two different groups: the "Tours Association" of
Brescia and members of the cooperative "Peace and Development" of Treviso. Each of these two groups, both members of I.A.R.T. (Italian Association for responsible Tourism), decided to unite their strength and resources in the creation of one organization dedicated to the aims and principles of "Responsible Tourism".

What is Responsible Tourism?:

Responsible tourism is a style of travel of which the primary characteristic is awareness. Awareness of oneself and one's own actions, of the social and natural realities of the country or countries to be visited and of the possibility of well considered choices based on these realities.

Responsible tourism is a new traveler's etiquette based on respect and consideration for native peoples, their customs and laws, and the environment in which they live and work. It is a conscious choice to not support destruction and exploitation but to be the bearer of the universal principles of equity, support and tolerance.

A person who subscribes to the principles of "Responsible Tourism" doesn't travel only to see the natural or archeological treasures of a country but more to experience first hand the people and culture of the societies to be visited, to be open to the spirit of adaptability and develop the capacity to interact with the local population and to understand the customs and habits that are essential in any given situation.

The programs of "Voyages and Mirages" are flexible with respect to location and are carefully planned to provide ample time and opportunity for direct contact with the local population, its representatives and associations, commercial organizations and groups engaged in the social and environmental development of the community and the country.
