Our extensive winter program offers the opportunity to combine a period of Arabic study with a visit to the most beautiful and characteristic cities in Egypt; representing different faces and a variety of realities of this truly diverse country.
The first stage of the visit is Cairo (القاهرة, al-Qahira), capital and largest city in Egypt, with over 15 million people in the metropolitan area. Visiting Cairo is a must for anyone wanting to know Egypt.
Three hours of Arabic lessons in the afternoon allows students to enjoy the morning in the city and visit major tourist attractions such as the Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum, the Citadel of Salah al-Din, as well as delve into the various aspects and areas of Historical Cairo. In addition to the traditional tourist routes, the program includes more parties and special events that are dedicated to the local culture.
The second leg of the tour is Luxor (لأقصر, al-Uqsur), formerly known as Thebes. Luxor is located in an area of Egypt known as صعيد (Said), or Upper Egypt. Once the capital of the "New Kingdom", Luxor is filled with monumental temples and several royal burial sites that are the heritage of Egypt's glorious past. These sites were famous throughout the ancient world and to this day make Luxor a very important center for archaeological studies.
Additionally, Luxor has much more to offer as it retains among its people and its daily practices ancient traditions, history and rituals that have faded or been completely lost elsewhere.
The Arabic lessons will be four hours a day. Students can also take advantage of the language exchange program with the Egyptian students of our center.
After two weeks, the study-tour program finishes in the city of Luxor. However, for those wishing to extend their visit, it is possible to also visit Alexandria and Siwa Oasis.
To get a complete picture of the complex ethnicity, linguistics and culture, a visit to Alexandria is a must! Though the area was previously sparsely populated by ancient peoples, the current city was founded by Alexander the Great, who declared it the capital of the region. Alexandria (الأسكندرية, al-Iskander) has been famous since ancient times for various wonderful attractions. Firstly, the ancient library, which was a house of knowledge and center of scientific research, was so well known throughout the ancient world that it is often found referred to in literature from around the globe. Secondly, the ancient Lighthouse, which is regarded as one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Thirdly, the city if full of various other incredible sites, such as the catacombs, ancient coliseums, burial chambers and a plethora of distinctive treasures hidden throughout the water surrounding the city as well as under its current position, as modern Alexandria is known as a city built on top of a city.
The Mediterranean city of Alexandria is intellectually active, where students will be able to take advantage of an intensive language immersion program, studying five hours a day as well as participate in the Arabic language exchange program with the Egyptian students.
Finally at the end of the journey, a three day trip is provided to the Oasis of Siwa (سيوة, Siwa), which is known for being a natural paradise where students will experience a face of Egypt that is fading fast; that of the Egyptian Bedouin oases lifestyle.

1. Travel and study

• Travel and Study

Absorbing the real atmosphere, the history, the ceremonies and the habits of daily life of a people is essential for a student who aims at assimilating a language vividly and intensely. It is important therefore to live the Arabic language from within, starting from the heart of the people who speak it. Getting to know places, becoming acquainted with the customs, savoring the pleasures, feeling at home and recognizing the faces of a country are possible. Whereas the normal tourist cannot grasp these colorful nuances, the student traveler is well prepared to appreciate and absorb them.
The main purpose of our program is to immerse the participant in a different reality in Egypt.
Through guided tours in the morning and structured lessons in the afternoon, the student will be able to leverage their time and to deepen their knowledge of written and spoken Arabic.

• The Program

The program includes morning sightseeing, Arabic lessons in the afternoon, and some evenings out. There will be a gradual increase in Arabic hours, in order to enable the students to integrate gradually into the language.
